Roles
When one of us is acting in the video, the other will be filming. If neither of us will be acting, Sarah will mainly be in charge of camera work and Amelia will mainly direct the roles of the other actors, however we will both play a part in both roles. We will both get the scenes ready for each set before filming, this will include arranging the props and making sure lighting is correct.

Research and Planning
Mine and sarahs ideas are widening and most of the ideas we are getting are from research through other similar bands and music videos, and others are through heavy discussion of exactly how we want our video and band to appear we have done this through creating lists and spider diagrams. Additional ideas we have had are having the band play on the roof, i got this idea from the video by Nickelback http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zueKq3z3Sk
We also decided that the girl in the video (me) would have bare feet whilst walking down the path, we thought that it would create the image of innocence and purity for the girl.
Finally we have also made the decision of are band name 'Amess' this was thought of through making a spider diagram and randomly thinking of ideas that we thought suit the band and fit the mise en scene.

My scanner has broke so i cant upload the storyboard, the risk assessment form and the piece of research for the ancillary task. However im sure my dad will let me use his when he comes home from work tonight.
The evaluation of the storyboard, references, key concepts and all of the above will be completed by the end of the day. I havent been able to do it over the weekend as i have been working and am again today.

Feedback 15.11.10
Girls, I continue to be worried about your group! You have done nothing over the weekend - again! The posts from friday's lesson have not been updated or completed as promised. So far, this blog may reach the bottom of level 2 (basic) at best. You need to work on this in your own time.
This week you should use lesson time to plan the ancillaries and video. Once you have footage you can use esson time to edit. YOu shold both atend more than one workshop this week.

additional locations
We have also decided on different additional locations to add variations to the video!
We decided we would film each member of the band playing their instrument on their own:
Drummer - under a streetlight at night time
Lead vocals/Guitarist - a busy town with people walking past
Bass - Just leant against a wall, giving him possibly a homeless look.
Lead guitarist/backing vocals - sat in classy house/ comfy chair etc.....
We also wanted shots of the whole band on the roof, when the song hit the chorus, to show them together and the song getting mor powerful and more upbeat.

Shooting Schedule
On Wednesday 17th Nov we are filming ar Sarahs house, where most of are footage will be from. Are initial filiming will begin with Dom surrounded by music sat in the lounge, with not much action.
We will also use the Cabin nest to Sarahs house as we see Dom leant up against the wall.
The Field, path, and possibly pub, are also other places where we will be doing fliming showing Amelia and Dom spending time together.
The final scene we will film will be on the path which will show Dom and Amelia walking towards one another, just Dom on his own, and the path on its own.
We will arrange other dates to film, the fire scene, and the band playing, and the landrover scene.

Costumes
My costume idea for the video is to have everyone in every day clothes. The reason why i have chose to do this is because it shows the realism of the video. It also means the audience can relate to the people included in it.
I chose to have Dom dressed fairly basic but leaning towards the indie/rocker look. I thought this would fit in with the genre of the song and again appeal to the audience.
I chose to have Amelia in casual indie clothes such as light dresses and big cardigans. This again fits in with the genre of the song, suits her style and will appeal to both males and females.

Equipment and Technology
The equipment and technology i plan to use throughout of video will be fairly basic, as there is no need for any high tech items as the genre is indie.
A digital camera will be used to take pictures of actors and locations. I will be using an average camcorder to record the video. This will be used on a tripod and hand held. I will also have to include music instruments such as; an acoustic guitar and drum set.
To edit my video we will be using an Apple Mac and the programme, Final Cut.

Feedback 8.11.10
Sarah and Amelia,
You have made some progress here. However, I am disappointed to see that you have not posted anything over the weekend. You are already way behind where you should be that you eed to be working on this in your own time.
Although you have started to show some evidence of resarch and planning, it is still quite minimal and basic in content. You need to spend some time improving the quality of your posts. Your synopsis post begins to describe the video but only mentions the opening. You need to produce a detailed storyboard and shot lists to describe your ideas in more detail. Perhpas you could embed videos that use similar techniques to those you are planning. The chart stats that you have found need analysing. You say you will look at the artists that appear in the list to see what audiences like, so do it! Comment on what you can learn from this list that will help you in your video.
In the post about actors, include some casting shots to illustrate. Show the reslts of your questionnaires - graphs, charts etc and then analyse them. What have you learnt about or from your audience that you wil now use in your planning?
Also, each of your analyses could be improved and strengthened further by firstly, embeddingthe actual videos in to the post. (To do this you must be on 'edit HTML' when you write the post.) Also, discuss the use of genre codes and conventions (both of music videos in general and also of the music genre). You also need seperate posts on the conventions of musc videos in general - See your courseowrk books and the powerpoint with Andrew Goodwin's theory. Also, research the conventions of your chosen music genre - analyse some videos and identify the conventions you must use. You also need a post on Branding - what this is with an analysis of the brand identity of an artist or band.

Full Synopsis
The music video is going to relate to the lyrics that are sung in the song, showing a love story narrative. It will mainly show the main male character who is also the lead singer in the band. As the genre of the music is indie/rock, i want to have the locations fairly rough, edgy and natural. The narrative will show how the main character (Dom) wants a girl who he cannot have (Amelia) showing he is unhappy without her, referring back to the lyrics. Throughout the video, i will show Dom writing the 'Can't be Happy' song and the events that have inspired him to write this song. e.g. Amelia leaving him. As well as including a story line throughout the video i also want to include many shots of diffrerent people displaying different types of love .

Target Audience
After researching and creating a questionnaire to find out who are target audience would be for the type of song we are using, and the type of video we are using we have come to the conclusion that it would be other boys of a similar age who are influenced by a similar type of music and can relate to the lyrics used in songs, their style of dress and the instruments used. Additionally, i think similar types of bands to the one are video is based on will also be interested.

Analysis of music video: Scouting for girls
The song I have chosen to analyze is a love song by scouting for girls. There video is set in an airport and the initial shots in the videos are of teh band playing in the airport, mostly the shots are up close of their faces and them singing and to their instruments such as the guitars and microphones. The majority of the video is showing couples and families leaving one another behind, showing a real narrative of 'love' as they cry, hug, kiss to show their emotions. The actors used have really been thought about as well as the location, as generally emotions are running high when leaving one another behind. Throughout the video the the camera flicks back every now and then to show the band singing and playing the song, giving a variety to the video and entertaining the audience. Towards the end of the video is shows happiness rather than sadness as couples and families are reunited, focusing at the end mainly on a couple that have been brought together again with a close up view of them kissing. The final shot it of the band ending singing the song. This video shows a real narrative and relates to the lyrics creating a real love song, influencing me to want to create a love story narrative into are video using simple shots, a variety of applicable locations, a band and actors to create the story.

Analysis of Music Video: Fluorescent Adolescent - Arctic Monkeys
The video i am going to analyse is Fluorescent Adolescent by a band called The Arctic Monkeys. The video starts with a hand held camera coming out of a car and following people dressed as clowns. The video then begins to show these clowns having a fight with other people dressed all in black and masks, still using a hand held camera. After the riot has ended, a camera portrays a low angle view of two children on swings. The camera then shows a close up of one of the children as he begins to mime the lyrics to the song. after this many stills of pictures of a child are shown and then the riot then begins to continue from where it left off earlier. The video then ends with an explosion of a car and the camera encircling a clown. I chose to analyse this music video because it is pretty basic, showing it is possible to make an effective music video without having extreme locations and star actors. From analyzing this music video i have decided that it will be best to shoot my video in an urban setting, to match the lyrics of the song. I also think it will work best to have a young girl and boy who match a stereotypical everyday teenager.

This is absolutely unacceptable. By now you should have completed the research and planning for this project and be getting ready to go out and film next week. YOu have obviously done nothing in your own time or even in lessons. I need to see major progress or you will be removed from the course. All the research, planning and production of vidoe and ancillaries must be completed by Xmas or you will be removed from the course.
You must attend extra workshops this week to catch up and I will eb checking your blog daily to see if you are each contributing to it regularly. Please condier this post as evidence of a stage one warning. If there is no major improvement by friday then I will move you to stage two. If you are already onthe stage system the this will obviously move you higher.
Any issues, the please see me asap. For info on ehat you must ctach up on see your checklist in the coursework pack.
